Kilnbridge was proud to take part in the Canary Wharf Contractors Fund (CWCF) Charity Football Tournament on Friday 3rd October 2025, hosted at Goals Beckenham. The event brought together teams from across the construction industry for an evening of friendly competition, camaraderie and fundraising – all in support of an incredible lineup of charities.
The Canary Wharf Contractors Fund (CWCF) is a charity established to support various causes, focusing on trauma care, mental health, education and poverty relief. Founded by the Canary Wharf Group, the fund raises money through events including their annual golf day, dragon boat festival and football tournament.
The tournament, which was sponsored by Kilnbridge, raised vital funds for organisations including Spread a Smile, Demelza, London Air Ambulance, St Joseph’s Hospice, Cardboard Citizens, Construction Youth, Lighthouse Construction Charity, Variety Children’s Charity, The Felix Project, Roald Dahl Nurses and First Step Family Support. These charities provide essential services to children, families, and vulnerable individuals across London and beyond.
Kilnbridge entered two teams, each made up of a number of head office staff as well as staff representing a broad cross-section of current projects. This included Bridgewater bridge, One North Quay, a project being delivered for Canary Wharf Contractors and HS2’s Copthall tunnel, being delivered for JV contractor SCS and multiple structures being delivered for HS2 JV contractor EKFB. Both teams advanced through the group stages with determination and teamwork, ultimately bowing out in closely contested knockout matches.
The event was made even more memorable by the presence of celebrity guest Adebayo Akinfenwa. Affectionately known as ‘The Beast,’ Adebayo played for numerous clubs across the English Football League, including Millwall, Northampton Town, Gillingham, AFC Wimbledon and Wycombe Wanderers. His energy and enthusiasm added a special touch to the event.
Congratulations to the tournament winners, and a heartfelt thank you to the CWCF Charity team for organising such a memorable event.
Kilnbridge is honoured to support CWCF’s mission and looks forward to continuing its commitment to community engagement and charitable giving throughout 2025 and beyond.
