Kilnbridge are delighted to announce that we have won the Temporary Works Initiative of the Year (Civil Engineering) award at this year's British Construction Industry Awards.

We were declared the winners for our work at Montgomery Bridge in Canary Wharf (pictured, top), an innovative and interesting project for which our different business units collaborated to construct a semi-submerged abutment, bascule chamber and marine deck.

The winner was chosen by a judging panel of leading clients, designers and contractors, who commented that the project was "an outstanding example of a company innovating, knowing its strengths and realising where it was lacking and pulling in technologies from other sectors."

They added that "their understanding of the client's requirements and scope and their empathy with the stakeholders stood out and they ultimately came up with a high-class solution that was better than the original concept design."

Kilnbridge collected the award at a ceremony at Grosvenor House in London attended by representatives of the company and project including Managing Director Dermot McDermott, Construction Director Tony Collier and Project Manager Bob Towell (pictured, bottom).

An unique bench honouring a dog named Geoffrey Barkington that Kilnbridge installed has been unveiled in Houndsditch.

Here Lies Geoffrey Barkington was designed by Patrick McEvoy and a winning entry in this year's London Festival of Architecture Benches Competition.

Kilnbridge were involved in constructing the shuttering for the bench and cast and also installed it in Jubilee Gardens.

Houndsditch was chosen for its location due to the area’s history as a popular location for the disposal of deceased dogs from the Roman Era until the 16th century.

Since being installed, the bench has been featured in the Evening Standard, Dezeen and the Architect’s Journal as well as on the Colossal and Wallpaper Magazine websites.

We are thrilled to announce that the sites for the Crossrail Stepney Green and Fisher Street projects we are currently working on have won a Silver Award in this year's Considerate Constructors National Site Awards.

Considerate Constructors said that the sites "demonstrated an outstanding commitment to improving the image of construction, achieving exemplary standards."

The sites were rated on their ability to consider their appearance, respect the local community, protect the environment and ensure the workforce are safe and valued.

They form part of a wider Crossrail project that entails the construction of new access, egress and ventilation intervention shafts with associated head house buildings and tunnel adits throughout London.

Congratulations to all of our staff on the projects for presenting the company and construction industry in general in such a positive manner.
