Sustainability & Environment

Sustainability is central to how Kilnbridge designs, builds and adapts structures across the UK.

We combine technical expertise with innovative delivery methods to reduce environmental impact while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and performance.

We commit to leaving a positive, lasting legacy in our built environment, enhancing how people live and work.

Sustainability considerations are embedded across our strategy, decision-making and day-to-day operations. As the UK’s leading structural specialist, we recognise our responsibility to deliver infrastructure safely, ethically and sustainably.

Key initiatives include transitioning away from fossil fuels, increasing renewable energy use, improving fleet efficiency and embedding sustainability into capital investment decisions. We follow recognised greenhouse gas management principles, ensuring carbon reduction is addressed through innovative design, procurement and delivery.

Circular economy principles also play an important role. By reusing and repurposing materials wherever possible, we reduce waste, cut carbon and create additional social value. Early input into decision-making enables us to identify reuse opportunities that will deliver environmental, operational and commercial benefits.

Responsible procurement is central to this approach, with systems aligned to recognised industry standards and close collaboration with partners to uphold expectations around safety, sustainability and ethical practice.

This commitment has been recognised through two International Green Apple Awards for Environmental Best Practice, awarded for our work at Colne Valley Viaduct and Old Oak Common.
