Westgate Shopping Centre

Scope of works

Westgate Oxford (formerly the Westgate Centre) is a major shopping centre in Oxford City Centre that was comprehensively remodelled and extended between 2016 and 2017 by the Westgate Oxford Alliance, a joint venture between the Crown Estate and Land Securities Group Plc.

Kilnbridge carried out the following works:

• Soffit insulation and thermal upgrades for an area over 25,000m²
• Service penetrations
• Fire stopping to achieve a range of fire ratings from 1 to 4 hours as well as fire protection to cellular beams, air pressure resistance and seismic building movements as set out in the Fire Strategy and Acoustic Specification.

Challenges / Achievements

• Successful development and installation of a system that provided fire resistance and acoustic resistance whilst catering for building movement in critical areas
