Aldgate Tower is a new state-of-the-art office development and the first phase of the wider regeneration of the Aldgate area proposed by Aldgate Developments. Kilnbridge was appointed by Brookfield Multiplex to manage and deliver a complex structural alteration and modification package to the existing multi-level basement beneath the proposed new building to enable the construction of the tower above.
This project involved the design of complex temporary works schemes to remove the existing ground floor reinforced concrete slab across the footprint of the proposed building. This introduced significant engineering challenges to our team as the basement levels beneath were occupied by a large international banking group.
In addition, the package involved the construction of new suspended lift shafts and complex alterations to the support columns to carry the multi-level structural steel frame above.
