Fire Rated Movement Joint Systems

Fire rated board systems are manufactured from various materials such as calcium silicate, gypsum plaster or mineral fibreboard and can offer fire protection and, in some instances, impact resistance for steel encasement and specialist lining systems. Depending on the project requirements the systems have multiple methods of installation from dry fit, framed and glued systems. The systems can offer up to 4 hours of fire resistance. The fire rating achieved will be dependent on the material thickness and specific construction details. It is critical that all boarded fire protection systems are installed in full compliance with the manufacturer’s fire tested system and technical details. The systems are beneficial during the colder more inclement weather experienced in the UK, and typically more resistant to environmental conditions or exposure to weather, saving on potential delays and associated costs.
