Terminal 2‘s satellite building T2B is situated alongside the new main Terminal 2 at Heathrow Airport and will serve up to 10 million passengers each year. The building includes a massive underground basement which will allow Heathrow to develop an automated baggage handling system. Kilnbridge were appointed by Balfour Beatty to design, supply and install a wide range of fire protection services on this project as well as Terminal 2AA.
The scope of work included installing both fixed and flexible fire penetration seals throughout to accommodate differential movement between the various elements of the building. We installed fire and acoustic barriers to raised access floors, ceiling voids, above glass partitions in public atriums, impact board enclosures to travellators and air sealing to plenum boxes in the PAX tunnels. Kilnbridge also provided bespoke design solutions to site specific technical installation issues as required by the client.
To enable certain components of these works to take place Kilnbridge also completed a concrete cutting package entailing diamond drilling, floor sawing and track sawing works.
As a registered company on the Heathrow ID Scheme, we have a successful history of working at Heathrow Airport during its continued regeneration and expansion and have also completed other fire stopping and fire prevention projects for Heathrow Airport.
