Scope of works
This major scheme formed part of the £400m Wessex Capacity Programme, which increased train and passenger capacity at London’s busiest station by 30%.
Kilnbridge’s scope of work included the design, fabrication and installation of:
- A new 42-ton bridge connecting Waterloo station with the old international terminal
- Primary steelwork for a transfer truss supporting the new infill roof
- Information gantries
- Structural support steels for connecting new and existing platforms
- High specification stainless steel balustrades
- Bomb blast cladding to primary structures
- Structural staircases with bomb blast considerations.
All works were delivered to Execution Class 3.
Challenges / Achievements
- Completion of blockade dependant works on time and to a very high quality
- Achieving a series of Right First-Time handovers without any delays
