Peterborough Sidings

As part of the Thameslink scheme, Carillion commissioned Kilnbridge to design and manufacture Driver Access Platforms at Peterborough Sidings which were required to accommodate additional capacity at this enhanced facility.

This was a supply only contract, with the installation to be undertaken by the client. The first activity we had to undertake was to develop the Grip 4 proposal for the platforms into a design that was both structurally fit for purpose, meeting all the relevant loading criteria and standards and also something that could be efficiently erected on site by hand, without the need for specialist equipment.

We produced a 3D model of the platform and issued the first platform to production which was trial assembled in our workshop to ensure ease of assembly.

All components were shot blasted and galvanised. Following these processes, a second trial assembly was undertaken to ensure all components still went together as per the original, pre-finishing assembly. The components were then packed into individual platforms, with full assembly instructions and despatched to site for erection by the client.
